"If the IOC is going to continue rejecting privately-financed bids and insisting that governments put up full public financing for the games, then we have to seriously consider whether the U.S. will ever again host the Olympics. It's a world-wide movement: but only if you conform to the prevailing European economic model. After a few decades, we'll see how much money U.S. television networks are willing to keep paying for an event that shuts out the U.S."
