P1010856Mr. Phelps, for those of you who need reminding, is a crocheted hallucigenia.  When last we heard from Mr. Phelps, he was inside the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.  Deep undercover, Mr. Phelps has been impersonating a piece of coral in the Smithsonian's Community Reef, a fiber arts installation that was displayed from October, 2010 through April, 2011.

I have just received word that the entire installation is now being shipped to Davenport, Iowa.  The Smithsonian is sending the reef, on a five-year loan, to the Putnam Museum.  The Putnam will install the reef at the entrance to its Ocean Experience Exhibit Hall.  Thus, Mr. Phelps' mission continues and the Home Office is amused to have a reason to drive out to Davenport one of these days.
