Cruelty to Handheld Electronic Devices
Nov. 8th, 2011 10:56 amI just used my Palm TX to track the delivery status of my new Android Galaxy Player. Oh, the heartless irony. Galaxy's on the truck. I think I'll do one last Palm hot sync for old time's sake.
What Android apps should I get between now and Windycon? In particular, I'm looking for a good sky chart. Been using "Planetarium" since the days when my trusty "U.S. Robotics Pilot 5000" made people say "oooh!" Actually, there were two eras when the Pilot got "ooohs." One when it was new. Another when it was 10 years old and I was still using it. That's when it totally won every "neat stuff" derby at work -- you know, when it's time to schedule the next meeting and everybody pulls out a small black rectangle while glancing sideways at everyone else's small black rectangles. Had one client who used to work for U.S. Robotics; he went ballistic with envy.
Sigh. The Android will be useful. But it will not be a Palm Pilot. If you had a Palm, I think you know what I mean.
