Life: The Derivation of Pi(e)
Jul. 11th, 2013 09:46 pmA late spring and abundant rain have resulted in a bumper mid-summer harvest here on the prairie. The monarda and purple coneflowers are a full foot taller than usual. And our most important crop (rivaled only by basil) is having a banner year.

I was getting bored with woven lattice top crusts, so this is (was) a galette. The cheesecake worked well, too, but I didn't get a picture. Not sure what I'll make with this weekend's harvest; probably a crisp. Or just sauce for ice cream. Hard to justify more than one pastry-crust pie per season, given how nobody really benefits from adding two sticks of butter to a bowl of cherries. Hmm... if life = bowl of cherries, then I have here a photograph of life itself.
Incidentally, here's a nice tutorial on building GIMP photo montages, which is how I wound up making this image when I should have been out mowing the lawn.
