Royal Orlando Rafter and his Prizewinning Chickens

Kitzmiller, Maryland, Circa 1910.  "Roy" Rafter worked for the B&O, but his passion was raising show chickens. He has gone down in local history as the first person in the area to own an automobile (it was steam-powered). His mother was a Kitzmiller. My great-grandma GiGi was not too fond of Kitzmillers but married him anyway.  Who but a Kitzmiller would name a boy child Royal Orlando?  I'm not making any of this up, you know.
