From the Chicago Sun-Times:
When all the cars got stuck last week on Lake Shore Drive, Skip Haynes’ phone started ringing. Chicagoans will remember that back in 1971, Haynes had a hit with his song “Lake Shore Drive,” recorded by the Chicago trio, Aliotta-Haynes-Jeremiah. Now, his friends thought he should update it. "I thought if I can do this in 30 minutes, I’ll do it,” said Haynes, 63. “It came out pretty fast. Apparently, it’s making people smile.”

The resulting 30-minute lyrics.  He also cut a track you can download at lakeshoredrivemusic.com

That's one of the few songs that will make me change the station. For some reason I find the piano part seriously annoying.

Now my problem is deciding what key to arrange it in for Uke Club on Wednesday night. Apparently the original was in E, which ain't happening on my watch.

Yes, that piano part is very repetitive, isn't it? The song is too much a part of my youth for me to reject it, but I'm fine with only hearing it once or twice a year. *sigh* I miss the mercury-vapor lights.
