Finally got around to the inevitable.
Yes, that's Glamorous Glennis at NASM. Photo taken on my beloved old Sony Digital Mavica (with the floppy discs).

She was only a rocket scientist's daughter-- but she left the boys exhausted behind her.

As a matter of fact (and I think you already know this) I AM the daughter of a rocket scientist.

Indeed, that is why I deployed the joke.

Barry Gehm and I once got into a dispute over my joke, see above, versus his joke, which goes:

She was only a rocket scientist's daugher-- but she gave the boys a specific impulse.

I thought mine was funnier, and traveled better. He disagreed. We conducted an e-mail survey of five rocket scientists. (Because we are such geeks.)

I lost.

But I still think mine is funnier.

I agree with you. Barry stacked the deck by choosing a specialized audience. The general populace would wonder "what's a specific impulse?" and miss the joke. So your variant wins among civilians. Now I'm trying to think of a variant for an airplane designer's daughter using "thrust" "drag" and "lift" but the caffeine hasn't set in yet and I'm already working on the comedy problem of whether, once you've sung "if you like Uke-C'thulu Lady, Uke-C'thulu Lady like-a you," should you continue or is it time to stop right there.
