Sir John Falstaff "Spottymac" BlakeSometime in 1993 - June 18, 2011
"I am not only witty in myself, but the cause that wit is in other men." -- Henry IV Part II
"Woman, give me the meatball sub and nobody gets hurt." -- refusing to get off the kitchen table
When the young tomcat arrived at Tree House shelter in May of 1994, they fixed him up, named him Falstaff (possibly after the beer) and adopted him out to a bachelor with a 9-5 job and no other pets. One month later, the cat was back. They wrote in his files: "Adoption Return: Too Affectionate." They put him in a cage to await routine FIV testing and further developments.
Falstaff's next adoption worked out better. The preschooler is now in college and the new kitten has learned to steal pizza and claim all the bed pillows. So Falstaff's work here is done. 18 years is not a bad run for a stray with a heart murmur and bad teeth. May we all play our hands as well as he did.
