Loving the New GIMP 2.8

The GIMP is a powerful, idiosyncratic, obtuse, maddening, open-source image-editing program.  I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to spend zero dollars and endless hours on the learning curve.  You know who you are.  I love The GIMP for one simple reason: I have a black cat.  If you also have a black cat and a camera, you know exactly what I mean...

I'm getting old. Learning curves scare me. I copy MSPaint XP to Windows 7 machines. That's mostly so I don't have to recreate my entire flicking everyday palette every time I open a new file but the fear of learning curve is part of it.

My opinion of learning curves is largely determined by whether or not I am on deadline. I don't mind mucking around in GIMP because, oddly enough, nobody cares when I release a new cat picture. Whereas my version of Microsoft Word is 12 years old.

I'm just the other way. I'll use your Windows 7 and your Office 2010 when your paying my wage to do it; but when I'm on my own time I wanna spend it doing my stuff, not learning how to do my stuff over again.
