Not empty enough yet
I inherited this editorial assistant:

I'm spending a lot of time with Skye the ferret to make up for the loss of her "cagemate" who's in DeKalb. Skye has been living uncaged in son's bedroom for years, with daily explorations through the rest of the house. Unfortunately, age and health problems have made her considerably less housebroken than she used to be (she used to be flawless, a true lady) so she's spending most of her time in a cage now.
She is also now mostly blind, so she bounces off walls like a Roomba and keeps going. Ferrets have lousy eyesight anyway and they do most of their hunting in tunnels, so losing her vision doesn't make a big difference to her. As I type this, she is licking my ankle. She's been roaming the hallway and stealing food from the cats. She's in a good mood (I know because I can hear her chuckling).
She needs meds twice a day. She had a minor operation on Monday. We do not speak of the vet bills. She needs to be cleaned up after. She is a royal pain, but she continues to have the sweetest temperament of any living soul I have ever met. So I am enslaved to a small weasel.
